Who We ARE

The Kisoro Children's Foundation is a Massachusetts Public Charity designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) organization. The Foundation exists to support the education, health, and welfare of children and families in Kisoro, Uganda. The Foundation has no employees and operates exclusively on the efforts of volunteers. The founders cover all operating costs so that 100% of your donations directly benefit children in Kisoro. In other words, no money raised by the Kisoro Children's Foundation goes toward travel or other Foundation expenses.

We partner with the Ineza Parents’ School and the Ineza Children’s Centre in Kisoro. Ineza Parents’ School was founded by Jackie Baganizi, a remarkable community organizer who dreamed of founding a school to provide Kisoro’s children with an alternative to the overcrowded and understaffed public schools available to them. Jackie's long-term vision was to offer a progressive education of the highest quality, in which children would be encouraged to be joyful, be creative, and be themselves. The current Ineza Parents’ School and the Ineza Children’s Centre grew out of Jackie’s dream and the dreams of the Kisoro community.

Our Impact

In 2018, we completed the beautiful buildings of the Ineza Children’s Centre. Since then, we have supported numerous other projects:

  •  A growing scholarship program for students in primary school at Ineza Parents’ School that now supports 70 full scholarships each year.

  • A growing scholarship program for vulnerable adolescent girls and young women to attend secondary school, nursing school and university that now supports 100 full scholarships each year.

  • Provision of sanitary supplies for the 600 girls at a local boarding school

  • Provision of disposable diapers for families giving birth at the local public hospital and at a local pediatric hospital

  • Several smaller construction projects at the school and in the community

Thank you for visiting our website and learning more about the Foundation. None of our work would be possible without our many donors and supporters. We are very grateful for the donations that become gifts of education, of dignity, of opportunity, and of changed life trajectories.
